I've photographed this place dozens of times. I've never seen a better light on the hills or a more complimentary sky than on this spring evening. The yellow flowers in the foreground only bloom on very wet years, and had been absent for at least the past five. Good timing and some exposure magic allowed me to render this scene the way I did. This is a blended image because I needed extreme DOF to get so close to the flowers, even at f/22. I took two images at f/14 (for foreground and background) which allowed me to keep everything in focus, and avoid the gusting winds moving the flowers around.
Ahh the paint hills. So beautiful down there in Central Oregon You seemed to have caught the perfect light! Congratulations. Very amazing shot. The colors are spectacular
Good thinking to blend exposures for depth of field! I've actually seen someone blending exposures for shutter speed, in order to get silky water AND crashing waves at the beach. I would never have thought of that either!
