Artist's Comments

A couple Alders still standing....all that was left behind by the clear-cut machine in Washinton's Olympic Penninsula. Think about 20,000 square miles with not a single old-growth tree remaining anywhere. Ecosystems that take thousands of years to mature and develop, stipped away in the blink of an eye, replaced by tree farms that offer a fraction of the biodiversity.

As artists, we all have a powerful tool with which to communicate to the world the issues important to us.

A great shot, and not a happy scene. However, ecosystems mature much faster, and nature repairs itself in amazing ways. The earth is always changing, and though we can do damage when we are careless, the earth always endures, as the Navajo say.

Great mono!

It really does remind me of the remnants of a smoky battlefield. Well done!
